Antifragility: The Architecture of Voluntary Stress
Beyond Resilience: The Theory of the Antifragile
Most men misunderstand the nature of stability. They seek resilience, which is the ability to resist shock and return to a baseline. While resilience is necessary, it is ultimately a defensive posture. In a world defined by volatility, resisting change is a decaying strategy. To progress, you must move toward the antifragile.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb defined antifragility as a property of systems that increase in capability, resilience, or robustness as a result of stressors, shocks, volatility, noise, mistakes, faults, attacks, or failures. The wind extinguishes a candle but energizes a fire. You must become the fire. This is not about survival; it is about gain. When you understand what is antifragility, you stop viewing pressure as a threat and begin viewing it as the essential nutrient for your development.
